  • Edible Literacy

    Put your taste buds to the tests. Try a variety of foods that we typically buy at the grocery store, and see if you can spot the difference between brands and products. During this taste test session, you will also learn how to read nutrition labels, understand food claims, and gain some insight about what food choices matter to you.

    We want to keep it a surprise on what foods you will be trying, but all items will be vegetarian and gluten-free. There may be trace or small amount of allergens from cross contamination during the processing stage as listed by the food product’s package.

    RSVP is not required, but it is encouraged! Credit is FYOS approved.

  • Backpacking Stoves and Water Treatment Clinic

    Cooking and treating water are two of the most important skills for surviving and enjoying the backcountry. By the end of this clinic, participants will feel confident treating their own water using many different methods and operating the two primary types of stoves used by backpackers.

We’ll summit the tallest mountain on the east coast of the United States, hike to scenic lookout spots, and visit some tall waterfalls. This will be a trip through all the best nature that Asheville has to offer and one you surely won’t forget!

  • Lake Tugalo Canoe & Camp

    Saturday, April 27th 2024 8:00 AM - Sunday, April 28th 2024 5:00 PM

    Event Location: Departs from Ramsey Student Center

    Come and paddle up from Lake Tugalo into the bottom of the wild and scenic Chattooga River! We’ll load up our boats with gear on Saturday morning and paddle 2.5 miles to the mouth of the Chattooga, where we’ll camp at a beautiful beachside spot. While camping, we’ll hike up to the Five Falls, filming location of The Deliverance and one of the most impressive whitewater sections in the Southeast! After staying the night, we’ll load up our canoes and head back to the lake to cap off this awesome adventure. All experience levels welcome!

Whether you are new to fly fishing or an experienced angler, this trip is for you!
